Solved -PJ401- CDMP Ford 1953
« on: April 23, 2011, 12:58:16 PM »
Here you are 1 car.
Read carefully: I won't give a point for builder's name and engine BUT for the name given to this Sport and the coachbuilder.
This is not easy, but not that hard.
I won't lock it because I know this picture is not that obscure.

I haven't yet found any information or seen any photos of this car on-line yet.
However as a shot in the dark is this the Ferrari bodied by Paolo Fontana at Padova known as "Carretto Siciliano" originally for Vittorio Marzotto in 1951?
If I understand correctly this car was re-bodied several times.
Could it be one of those later bodies?

Not a Ferrari and not by Fontana...but this car was re-bodied several times too.

If you have the name, it won't take you much for the solution...the coachbuilder will be much harder.

I can now see the car is much smaller than a Ferrari therefore the search continues in the etceterini archives!

Is the coachbuilder CDMP?
:applause:
Not the coachbuilder...if faksta has got the name right he can tell what it stands for...
Well done, the car is a CDMP...now who is responsable for the body?
Hint: in Italy that name is associated with 'Chocolate'.

Correct.
This car has a quite interesting story:
Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo drove a Ford V8 in the 1950 Pontedecimo-Giovi. In 1953 the car was totally rebodied and raced several times in this configuration. The engine was still a Ford, 4litre bored out to reach 4.2 with special head and valves. The new body, was inspired by Cunningham's C4R and was realized by Giuseppe Ferrero with the help of Gino Munaron.

I found a different name in the story of this car;  the source I found speaks about Mr. Marco Beneventani as the partner of Mr. Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo in building this car, and doesn't mention neither Ferrero nor Munaron.

I took my info from Curami's book 'La Sport e i suoi Artigiani' where you can find a 2-page entry about this car with 5 pics of it in its various configurations. It is usually a well researched book and I couldn't find a single line about 'Marco Beneventani' but only something about 'Francesco Beneventano', regarding a different car.
