Jaguar based but not on a Mk VII.
Not a one-off either

It's based on a Jaguar Mk IX and it's from 1959, but that's all I know.
I can even tell you your puzzle photo was taken at the Helmingham Hall Festival of Classics and Sports Cars on 25th July 2010 using a Canon EOS 450D camera, but I still can't tell you the car's name!
I actually had the pictures below saved for a future puzzle but I never posted it as I couldn't find enough out about the car...!

Thanks for the photos Carnut. It is based on a Mk IX and apparently six were produced in the early 1970s.
The car in the photo is probably based on a 1959 Jaguar.
All I need now is a name for the point......
