I'll guess at it being a 1938 Maybach ?

Didn't Jensen fit a handful of cars with Lincoln Zephyr V12 engines around 1938? Could it be one of those?

It does have a Lincoln Zephyr V12 but it's not a Jensen

I don't think I've seen a picture of one, but Brough Superior introduced a model in 1938 with a four-door saloon body by Charlesworth and a Lincoln Zephyr V12 engine. Three were laid down, but only one was completed. Is that it?

Thanks. I've found a picture now as well. It's a fine-looking car.

I agree it's a good looking car.
I believe it failed due to the list price of £1,250 - a lot of money in 1938.
It was also very heavy and the Lincoln Zephyr engine was inadequate in performance terms.

George Brough provided a lot of car for the Lincoln engine to move. His cars were often a bit less spritely than their opposition but his motorcycles, on the other hand . . .
Atalanta used the Lincoln engine more successfully in a rather lighter and more sporting car though I think their version with the 2 litre Gough engine went just as well.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong
