I'm thinking of writing a book. I've got the title - "The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Autopuzzler".
So mower #4 is not American and not Australian. I got nowhere with Japanese manufacturers, and I was sure that it wasn't British.
So turning to mainland Europe, I looked for manufacturers of domestic lawnmowers using search terms in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese (I thought I'd leave Eastern Europe and Scandinavia for another time). I sorted the names into alphabetical order, and started at the beginning. And the last one on the list was.....
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, mower #4 is a Zündapp MM20.
For a car to go with it, here's one of my favourite microcars of all time, the symmetrical Zündapp Janus, named after the Roman god of gates and doors, who is depicted as having a head with two faces pointing in opposite directions.
Thank you, and goodnight!
