Well done - it's the Cianfriglia Lotus with a Lancia Appia engine built by Remiglio Cianfriglia at Tivoli (Roma)

I'm not familiar with the car at Amelia Island in 2010 but by your description it is the same car.
There were five specials (all different) that were known by this name.
What was the name and which one of the five is this one?
Locked for you until your next reply.

The builder of that car is unnknown...
I can give you Austin Healeysn:BN1C155904.
The current owner is Phil Fleming of Flemington, New Jersey.

Thanks for the photo Iluvatar.
The puzzle car has a known builder but also has an Austin-Healey chassis, Chevy V8 engine and a Devin body.
However there are several differences between your picture and the puzzle car -
Shape of the rear wings, difference in the shape of the nose, no side air outlets, air intake on the bonnet and the windscreen.
As far as I can ascertain the current owner is different too.
My conclusion is that your photo and the puzzle car are not the same.

Before I move this up to the Pros, I'll add a few clues for the Experts and Rookies to ponder over.......

#2   - based on a British chassis
#3   - not from Europe
#5   - hasn't been in an accident - that's how it's supposed to look
#6   - the only coupe version as far as I know
#7   - named after an animal
#8   - based on two different cars - the name is a combination of both
#9   - pretty obscure European
#10 - not that obscure Group 6 car
#13 - Lotus-based with an interesting engine
#14 - French but not the usual DB, Panhard, Renault
#15 - the name is the same as a European royal of yesteryear
#16 - French based
#18 - European
#20 - European also

Is #8 a Simca Tempestade?
No - this one is half-a-world (geographically) away from the Simca Tempestade
