Solved - MJW #248 - Landar R6 1965
« on: January 25, 2011, 04:57:20 PM »
Not having much luck with #248.
The two puzzles have been reposts so - third time lucky? here's another one.
Make, model and year for a point.
(this one has been featured in a group puzzle but not as an individual puzzle)

Little interest from the rookies so what do the experts make of it?

Okay I'll concede you the point - it's a Landar R6 of 1965

Thanks Woodinsight.
The 1000C and the R6 are in fact one and the same car.
I have a publicity sheet from Landar in which they say "Meet us on Stand 46 (at the Racing Car Show at Olympia, London in January 1966) to see the fantastic Landar 1000C Sports Racing Car".  The photo used on it is actually the same one posted by Amsterdam and captioned Landar R6...

In fact when the car appeared at that show it was described in the catalogue as the Type R6.

It was the first car produced by Clive and Peter Randall (look at the surname backwards!).

They went on to produce the R7 (a slightly modified R6) and the R5 (go figure the nomenclature of that one!) and a number of Formula Vee cars.

I'll post the Landar publicity sheet on Monday (my scanner at home isn't working properly).

Here's that publicity leaflet as promised, from which can be seen the photo is the same as the one posted by Amsterdam:

Allemano has a nice, clear shot of the car in this puzzle:

Thanks Otto.
My problem is that many of my puzzles are taken from the printed medium and are not always very sharp.
Better than no illustration though and it often prompts others to post better photographs.

Thanks by the way for the Facel Vega front page coverage.

In the meantime another Landar R6 view -
