Solved - MJW #131 - Fuerza Limitada T-Series Ford monoposto racecar

This car is a mystery for me - the photos were sent to me in 2008 by a friend who was on business in that country at the time. He was not able to tell me any details on the car.

All I know is the nationality - one point on offer for that.

The following two photos show the car's profile and a shot of the engine.
Do you know which engine this is? I don't, but I suspect that it is relatively well-known.

I haven't posted these photos on any other site yet as I thought that there may be an AutoPuzzler who knows the details.
Anyway, I have to post it in the Experts first before I move it up to the Pros in a couple of days.

The steering linkage looks typical of US track cars in the 40's and 50's but that engine is no Offy.  So I'll guess at the car being Australian

Yes, I think this engine may be American.
But the car is not Australian.

Photos were taken in an art dealer/auctioneers showroom in Punte del Este in 2008

Argentinians have extensively raced Ford T specials - in Fuerza Limitada and, I think, there was even a category for them called Ford T Semipreparados (may be mistaken about the latter). I think it might have been one of them.

Also note the car in the background. Has some similarity, I think.

faksta - I think you are right there.
Another two photos are shown below.
The script on the radiator appears to say Ford but it's not quite clear enough to confirm.
I did find a couple of single seaters from Argentina that are similar but can't say which one for certain.

A couple of things to get into account: 1. Ford T's have had their own category indeed (1954-1960) 2. In Fuerza Limitada T's were used up to early 1970s!

That engine looks like a Ford V8-60 to me.  In America, it was offered from 1937-1940 as a smaller offering to the 221 cubic inch flathead.

I think I can call this puzzle solved after Faksta pinpointing the country and the race series it would have raced in.
So a point there.
Aaron65 has confirmed the engine and I'll award him a point too.
If anyone has more information (with proof) of who raced the car, when and in which races there will be another point up for grabs.
