Solved - MJW #217 - Falcon Caribbean DKW by Wolf-Dieter Mantzel
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:30:22 PM »
I'm surprised this hasn't been posted before.
It sounds an easy puzzle - but - this one is left-hand drive.
Make, model and more importantly what engine was fitted?

I'm a little confused by your LHD clue... But I'm going to say it is (or looks like) a Falcon MkIII/Caribbean...

I remember a Falcon with a German engine. Is it DKW underneath?

I think you are right, I remember this one too, though I'm not sure where I've seen it before. The colours are right too.

According to my info, it's (could be) a one-off prototype built by german tuner Dieter Glentzel. Is it true?

It's a one-off for sure. But I think it must be Wolf-Dieter Mantzel, because he is a well-known DKW tuning expert and racing driver from the 50s and 60s.

I found some information in a book. It is definitely built by Mantzel, based on DKW Junior. It was presented in spring of 1962.
