The painting is not very distinct, but apart from the cars, there look to be buildings and possibly palm trees. Is the subject of the painting the Monaco Grand Prix?

I'm not sure if it was Monaco but definitely on the Mediterranean coast.

Although I haven't found my original source (that didn't give much information on the car), I can add that the car is Triumph based and is French.
I only know of the man who built it, nothing more so if anyone knows more there is a point awaiting!

This one has been sitting around for a while without many replies so it's time to solve it.
I think it would be fair to say that two points are on offer here.......
What is the name of the man who built this Triumph-based special and which model was it based on?

This talented man, apart from designing and constructing the car, was also responsible for many motor racing paintings. He also built model steam railway locomotives.

Alain Ducoté's sports car based on a Triumph GT6.
M. Ducoté is based in Nice on the Cote d'Azur and his paintings are on permanent display at the Galerie Montauti in the city.
I still haven't managed to find a decent photo of the car yet.
