The Saab EX wasn't a prototype built by Saab, but was designed and manufactured by the Norwegian Per Ekstrom and colleagues in 1998. It is a four-seater sports car, made from elements from various models of Saab with the intention of recovering the classic 900 Turbo style preGM.
Although the EX is not a prototype "official " Swedish brand, Ekstrom had the cooperation of some oficial services. Total hours of work invested in its manufacturing and tuning ranges between 3,000 and 4,000.
The EX, fully operational and functional, was powered by the 2.3 Turbo Classic, in this case with its increased power to 302 hp and torque to 400 Nm, with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The paint color is the classic Red Talladega wearing the 900 preGM, the emblems were painted by hand with spray by Thor Kristian Grindhaug.
