Tell me all you can about this one, and you may gain a point!
-
Expert engineering required.
-
I think this is quite a tough one, but the Pros will now prove me wrong!
-
Mini-based?
-
Me thinks it's rear engined?
-
Not Mini-based, as it is indeed rear-engined. ;)
-
Suzuki related?
-
Afraid not!
-
It is Fiat 126-based, isn't it ? Can this thing be a 4-wheel-version of the Jolly Diesel ?
-
It is Fiat 126-based, but nothing to do with a Jolly Diesel I'm afraid!
-
Maruti?
-
Poland?
-
Not a Maruti and not from Poland I'm afraid!
-
Design house made?
-
No.
-

Was planned for production, but I think only one complete car was made.

Fiat 126 test mule for Gordon Murray town car
-
Heron Tripod?
-
Neither a Gordon Murray test mule nor a Heron Tripod (which only had three wheels).
-
It look similar to Franz Bauhof Prototype?
-
Not one of his.
-
This puzzle has now been here for a year. So, time to put this black car into the Black Hole?
-
Either that, or offer up a clue.
-
I agree!!
-
We've already established that it is British, and based around a Fiat 126. The only other clue that I can give is that it was destined to be a TV star, but it never really made it to fame and fortune!
-
Was it actually featured in a TV show?
-
It was planned to be the main topic/feature of a TV show, but it is unclear if this TV programme ever got made, or indeed broadcast.
-
Is it named after its builder or the programme?
-
Neither named after the builder nor the TV show. As a clue though, it does share its name with a famous movie!
-
Serpico?
-
I like your thinking, but not Serpico (the movie is more famous and popular with families).
-
Bambi
-
Very close, but I now realise that my movie clue was a little misleading (sorry) as the movie name forms most of the name of this car. So, locked to you Oguerrorob as it is almost Bambi, but with two more letters on the end (i.e. BambiXX).
-
Bambino
-
At last, that's the baby; well done!
The Bambino was intended for series production in the North fo England in the late 1980s, and was planned to be the focus of a TV documentary programme following the development of the car. However, as is so often the case with start-up automobile producers and dreamers, it seems that none of this ever actually amounted to anything.
I have a couple of undisguised photographs of this Fiat 126-based car at home, so I will upload these when I'm next there at the weekend.
