I have found out that it is not a Veritas but a BMW 507 prototype with chassis number 70.001. This appears to be an alternative design proposal for the 507 penned by Ernst Loof, one of the men behind the failed Veritas venture.

OT: Somehow I get a feeling that there are no more rookies left here but me  :-\

It looks indeed like you're the only rookie left. But not for long if you keep solving them  ;)

Yes - I know the fact was already mentioned but I thought perhaps it ought to be included in the heading as I nearly posted it as a new puzzle!

Solved - NEH 952: BMW Roadster by Ernst Loof - 1954

Identify this car for 1 point.
A similar (sister) car has been posted before, but this is a different car and is not a repost as far as I can ascertain:

It's a 1954 BMW Roadster built by Ernst Loof, clearly inspired by the Veritas Scorpion, according to my Hungarian source. He built two BMW roadster this year.

That's the car, yes.
The other car you mention has been featured on AP before, but in fact there is some doubt about whether there were two cars or just the one that got tinkered with a bit..

I don't know your source and its credibility. All German book sources I know speak of only one Loof roadster. It had the chassis number 70.001. There are only two other BMW 507 specials known: the Loraymo by Raymond Loewy and Pichon-Parat (70.024) and a Michelotti design (70.184). The slight differences between the pictures of the Loof roadsters are alterations made during the existence.

This car was built on Ernst Loof's personal request to built a possible (in-house design) BMW sportscar since there had been rumours about a new Mercedes Benz sports car which finally became the 300 SL.
It was never officially called "507" and was rejected for the more attractive Goertz design, though Loof's car would have been cheaper and less advanced to built.
As far as I know there was only one car ever built and only one time shown to public.

Thanks for the information.  The Hungarian site was giving a german source with two different images of the Loof roadster, without explaining that it was the same car.  I'll pm you the links.

Yes, I checked out that mine was different in a number of details before I posted it, but it still turns out it's the same car with a few alterations....

In a book about Willi Martini I found several pictures and details about the Loof-BMW. It is definitely the same car which was altered several times. The front shown in the GG-75 puzzle is the older one. In the mentioned book there was a picture of this car at a very early stage with the long scooped hood, but without bumpers, a different windshield and wipers mounted at the top of it. Next development stage would be the GG-75 car, already with a new windshield, bottom-mounted wipers and bumpers. Last stage is the car in this puzzle with the shortened scoop. In this specification it was presented at the Bad Neuenahr concours d'elegance and in the brochure.

A picture of the car in its initial development stage.

Internally BMW called it "Typ 528", a printed brochure called it "502 Sportwagen".
