Yes, the base car is a Renault Dauphine, but who turned it into that what can be seen on the picture?

It was a prototype made by Jacques Gérin (1898-1983) of Boulogne Billancourt in 1959. The front horizontal spare-wheel could rotate freely on its axis. In case of crash, it was supposed to let the nose of the car slip on the obstacle, helped by the rounded front design.
Jacques Gérin made another prototype, based on the DS, but these plans came to nothing.

I've read here and there that he also built a car with propeller in 1922, in 1924 another one with propeller, rear mounted engine and all-independant suspension. He also built two aeroplanes with variable wing surface ("Varivol"). The town hall of his birth place, Chatellenot in Bourgogne (near Dijon) is actually looking for some more informations on his works to publish something.
They launched an appeal for witnesses recently in the magazine Gazoline.
