I suppose I've reached some sort of milestone with 500 puzzles and the car posted here was also noteworthy for a certain reason.
For a point what is the car, who is at the wheel, the year it was built and why was it noteworthy?

Rather like your bottomless pit Carnut!
Just where do you find all these new cars?

I still think there are many interesting road cars still to be featured yet plus many coachbuilt cars, cars of the 1920s and earlier, kitcars and one-offs, pure racing cars, etc.
If you want to go down the commercial and passenger transport road there are many gems there too.

Well the wheels are Austin 7 but the radiator cowl looks more like Ford. Although the background looks like Brooklands I'll guess it's post-war.
The most significant builder of a Ford-engined Austin seven was Arthur Mallock who then went on to make Mallock U2 followed by a series of clubman's racing cars under Mallock or U2 names.
I'll guess it's Arthur in his Austin Special and since the 750MC's 1172 formula began in 1953, perhaps that's the date of car/photo after it got its Ford engine.

Good guess Allan.
It is based on an Austin Seven but it has nothing to do with Arthur Mallock.

That's correct - a young John Cooper (I believe 11 or 12 years old at the time) at the wheel of the Austin Seven based Cooper Special (known as the first Cooper). It was built for him by his father in 1935. Lucky lad!
Another point for you Djetset.
