Very cool car is a heavily modified Model A Ford (roadster?) with '34 front, owned by Atlas Plating co. & was the "official car" for the race ?
Built by Frank Kurtis & he's the guy standing in the photo ?

Have seen another pic of the same custom Ford ,with "Official Car National championship Auto Race " on the Left door / rear 1/4 at a track ,hence my comment.....puzzle pic also seems to be at a track

As it was built for Atlas Plating ,it no doubt carried parts for chroming in the modified rear as well as being a rolling advert.

Seems race car was built / owned by Marty Vusich & Al Behloavek with Kurtis building body/grille/fuel tank

Have seen puzzle photo caption elsewhere saying racecar Owner was holding trophy with Frank Wearne driving  (Ted Horn also drove it at times)

Also have seen name Henry Puckett as having received award for "best presented race car".......

Thanks for that , I dont think your caption is entirely accurate though ,a good source indicates the car is an older Model A Ford ( '28 - ' 29 roadster ) with later '34 grille /bonnet etc.....


Also with the race car ,Kurtis just built the body & grille & oil ,fuel tank

Point taken ,though some books are more accurate than others 

Looking at '28 /'29 Model A Ford roadster & '34 Ford roadster images in a popular search engine, cowl back they are quite different , Atlas plating car definitely has closer resemblance to former
