KMR Oura is an extremely fuel efficient sports car. It seats three and utilizes reliable Smart Fortwo mechanics. The body is a state of the art carbon fibre composite monocoque. So far only seen in racing cars and some of the world’s most expensive supercars.
The combination of mass produced mechanics and lightweight body achieves the same power to weight ratio as Porsche Boxster or Lotus Elise with half the fuel consumption. KMR is something not seen before: A true sports car that is very fuel efficient and thus low in CO2 emissions. With the Fortwo's CDI diesel engine this car has lower fuel consumption than any road car in production at the moment and still has GTI -class performance. Co2 emissions could be as low as 70 g/km (EU combined cycle) seriously challenging hybrid, fuel cell and even electric cars.
This concept started as an engineering student's dream of an economical roadster and it has now become a reality. The design is made by Klaus Raunela as a master's thesis at Helsinki University of Technology. At the moment the first prototype is under construction. The plan is to produce each car according to customer's wishes. All colors, materials and equipment can be freely chosen.
