Well done  Bentleybob , more points for you !

Another couple of photos , it seems 1 cabriolet & 1 virtually identical coupe were built by Ghia for Sapcar on Panhard Dyna platforms.

A photo of the coupe at Enghien concours d'elegance in June 1955 ,  with temporary Paris garage registration 1153 WW 0 .

Does anyone know of any more Sapcar cars or have any more photos ?

Not by Ghia but by Allemano!!

Take a look at the badge.

Another picture : You can find the same front design : 1954 Maserati A6G 2000,Fiats...

Thanks for extra photos  :)

The side badges are Sapcar ,not Allemano !!

The photo of the Ghia Panhard coupe at the concours d'elegance in Enghien in June 1955 is from a period 1955 magazine report ,note caption !

The photo of the Ghia MG at the same concours in Enghien is also from 1955 magazine , note registrations ,1152 WW 0 on MG & 1153 WW 0 on Panhard ,temporary registrations from the same garage !

Interesting.

Nothing is mentioned in the Ghia book, but it can be a lack of information.

I can't find a Ghia bodied car with this front design there too.

If it's right,SAPCAR ordered another car  ::) that's also featured here.

This is the Fiat by Allemano :

Here is copy of Michelotti sketch for the Allemano Fiat , most likely the Panhards were designed by him also, hence the similarity of the front   , the rest of the car looks quite different  :)

Thank you,nice picture!

Sorry to bother you with another question.

SAPCAR was trying to sell cars as coachbuilders?

Questions are good !  :)

From the concours d'elegance  photos ;

The " WW " registrations were temporary ,issued in batches of 10 or so to garages / dealers ,hence the consecutive numbers ( 1152 & 1153 )   " 0 " means it's from Paris.

So it seems SAPCAR were a dealer / garage based in Paris . At the concours (when the cars were new) the cars were described as coachbuilt by Ghia ,so SAPCAR weren't claiming to have built the cars. Possibly they were French / Parisian agents for Ghia.

I believe Prince Hassan of Morocco who was a car enthusiast & spent a lot of time in Paris was connected with SAPCAR ; the cars were built by Ghia late '54 - early '55 period & then SAPCAR seems to vanish.
This ties in with Hassan having been exiled from Morocco in late '53 & returning there  as it gained independence in early 1956 .

Anyone know any more about SAPCAR ?
