Looks like a CJ-5, except for the headlights.

Well, south korean company Ssangyong started in 1954.

They seem to have built Jeep at least from 1974 ("Apr. 1974     Co-established Shinjin Jeep Motor Co., Ltd /
Feb. 1977     Developed 4, 5 and 6-passenger diesel jeep models)

http://www.smotor.com/en/overview/history_3.jsp

here you can see some more pics  .

http://www.ssangyongapeldoorn.nl/ssangyong/

Shijin (or Sinjin) Jeep seems to have been 50:50 AMC and Ssangyong/Shinjin.

If that were a civilian registration, it's in the Dutch format, but that may not be the case.

I'm guessing that you're guessing it's a Nekaf, in which case you are correct! 1957 NEKAF M38 A1

Although known as the Nekaf, it could've been build by Nekaf, Van Twist or another company. Unfortunately, I forgot the last one.

Anyway, it might be interesting to know that Van Twist also has made the Jeep for at least some time.

'DM-55-84' still exists, and is listed by RDW as NEKAF M38 A1, first registration from 30 June 1957, current license since 1996 (so probably until then it will have had its military license plates) and a new owner since February, this year.

Just between you and me, the RDW is known for registering cars badly. Nekaf was never the name under which itwas officially sold to anybody (which would be the army in this case).

Having said that, it is nice that the maker is honoured, whereas the RDW normally chooses the easiest solution.

I have done some more research and Nekaf would be the "right" name up to about 1958. Except that it was known as a Jeep.
