For my 50th puzzle, I'm following up on the themes of NTM #37 & #42 and presenting makes that have "car" in their names... in most cases, because people may have needed to be reminded that these odd machines were, in fact, "cars"...  ;)

Nope... plus, that doesn't have "car" in the name.

Correct - a 1955 Tri-Car Suburbanette, to be exact. (Oddly, another Auto Puzzle shows a 1954 car of the same make & model name, and it's very different.)

Both called Tri-car, both from New York, but apparently different companies.

4. Custer car 1922 450 by Custer Specialty Car Company. Dayton, Ohio, USA

The complete name of this car is Custer Cootie, a street-able version of the Custer Park Car, developed for amusement parks. An interesting footnote: Levitt Luzern Custer's company was started using money earned through the sale of the Custer Bubble Statoscope, an early form of altimeter. Custer also believed that corporal punishment had a place in the school system and offered to build the Dayton (Ohio) Board of Education a "whipping machine." The board did not seem enthused, and the device never made it off the drawing board.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!
