The potato cutter grille looks very 1953 Ferrari 212, but this car is far more elegant than anything I've been able to find to that description

The body and the underpinnings are from two different nations. The body's origin should be obvious, but the chassis... well, that's for you to determine.

It could be, and that's an excellent guess, but it is not.

The region you're thinking about however...  ;)

So many obvious influences in my mind...
You say MG is in the mix...
I know it's not either of these: Ferrari Barchetta circa 1952,  AC Ace...

Here's the ace and ferrari in the same photo.

It's one of three Motto-bodied MG TD Sports Speciales built in 1953.

I thought you might like it MG. It's hard to believe that it has any TD in there, but that's what it is.

There's more info and pics of the Motto here:

That car is just drop dead gorgeous!   If the MGA had HALF of this style and panache, MG would have ruled the automotive world!  I woulda foregone my beloved XK120 for this car!    :o The car looks fabulous today. Musta been too far ahead of its time...... :(

Excellent work Tifosi!

Thanks.  The car really does look like a Ferrari in red.  This car was the subject of a restoratioon profile in the September issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

It HAS to be the most beautiful MG I've ever seen...but the body would probably have been far too expensive to produce en masse.

Bad luck Iluvatar; maybe you deserve half a point but there isn't a facility to award you that, so Wendax gets the whole one!
