Not Champion-based, and also intended for regular production (although i am uncertain as to how many were built).

And if it was built in West Germany, could this be the Espenlaub prototyp from 1952?

I'm still not certain if this was East or West German, but I do know that it is neither an EMW or Espenlaub prototype.

Indeed! ;D
It's the German "Puck"

The one-off was built in 1952 by the brothers Krick from Hofgeismar. The chassis was donated by VW, the rear axle was borrowed by a Opel Kadett. The body was hand made of Aluminium.
Powered by a Zündapp KS-600 rear engine it developed 22 HP which supposedly propelled that tiny car to a top speed of 150km/h

At last, it is indeed the German Puck, powered by a Zundap engine.  Well done ;D
