I know that, when if you read the texte it's always spelled "Rollston" (which the spelling I also read in every book). I believe there is a typing error in the title in that Coachbuilt page.

EDIT: I just re-read the page and O.Puzzell is right. The company  began as Rollston, then another was formed and named Rollson in 1938. If this car is Rudolf Bauer's car as I guess, it was built by Rollson, without a T.

It is a Duesenberg J, finished in 1940 by coachbuilder Rollson ( ex Rollston ) on a 1937 frame ; it was ordered by a german artist

Very good. The point is yours. The german artist name was Rudolf Bauer. But makes this car special? This you have to tell me first.

Base car is easy but who built the coachwork?
So for one point - make, model, coachbuilder and year (this car was rebodied three years after it was built)

Duesenberg SJ with a body by Rudolf Bauer. Chassis was built in 1937, but car not bodied until 1940. I saw this car at the Fairfield Concours...quite an imposing car.

You've got the right car but it was built for Rudolf Bauer of Deal NJ in 1940 according to my source.
This fully collapsible town car was the last remaining Duesenberg chassis sold in the USA.
Locked for you to name the coachbuilder.

Body by Rollston.
Almost!
Bear in mind that Rollston changed its name in 1938 and this coachwork was built in 1940.
Still locked for you.

I see that it's not the first time that this car is reposted.
I made the mistake myself there: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=8933.0
Can one of the editors merge this too?
