Well, the aeroplane is Imperial Airways' Handley page HP42, G-AAXD "Horatius" and it is at Croydon Airport.
Probably British, therefore!

Well I am a former aviation person - though not former enough to actually remember HP42s or Croydon Airport in action.

So is that driver standing up?
Could it be a custom-bodied, possibly-armored, delivery car for the Royal Post (delivering the mail to the plane)?

Looks like Mulliner or somebody got ahold of a Divco armored truck...

It is a postal truck, though not armor-plated.

I can't find a photo of it, but perhaps it's a version of the Scammell car designed by Oliver North (formerly of North-Lucas, as above)

This one´s really great. Thank you for having posted it!

Maurice Lambert designed this streamlined Morris 15cwt chassis based postal truck in 1935.

Do you know the story behind this car? Identify both the donor, the coachbuilder and the reason why it is special for a point!

Boy, that was quick! All I need now is the coachbuilder and a year - and the point is yours
