Hezza,
Did not know that others here shared my curiosity about the early kit cars.
In exploring and researching history on Harley Earl and Zora for the Harris Speedster story I found quite a few ties between the earliest of fiberglass kit cars.
As the story goes in history books, do not know if all is true:
There was another fiberglass kit car company that used european and some american chassis to build quite fascinating roadsters in the late 40's and early 50's and then on into the 60's.
I read that GM purchased one of the very early bodies and had it delivered to GM so they could explore this new found way of building bodies.
I guess their research came about and brought us the early Motorama fiberglass Concept cars of the early 50's. One such car became the Oldsmobile Futuristic car that Hendricks ( Discovery Channel) owner has in his collection.
Then, vuuola, came the Corvette.
Does anyone know more about this?
