Is it Disney artist Bob Gurr, who designed the Autopia cars?

I believe that this one is seriously in need of a clue.  Here it is.
May I add that the link is more than a car he owned, or once drove: this artist was deeply involved in automotive activities.

It's Pete Millar--drag cartoonist from the 1960s!  He was one of the founders of CARtoons magazine...

No, but you may be colder: I find no connection between Kozik and my last clue.

Roth made the Surfite, which appeared in Beach Blanket Bingo. Frank Kozik's early work is often similar to Roth's, and each has been featured in Gearhead and other car-culture magazines.

But, it looks like Aaron65 has put this one to bed.

Not only did draw dragsters, I think he had and drove at least one, which can de seen in Bikini Beach Party.
I'll fetch the picture and post it.

Done, a bit late (and point added to Aaron65)
At his death, according to his will, his ashes were scattered at 200 mph on the Bakersfield dragstrip.
