Solved: Wendax 025 - Kalmar fork lift truck
« on: February 14, 2011, 02:57:36 AM »
The transfer of ideas has brought our civilization forward again and again. If the idea of transferring the Isetta front door layout to cab-over-engine trucks was one of those, I doubt it.

For one point, please respond and tell me who had this wonderful idea.

Ah yes. It was built vfor a Swedish company Svelast by Kalmar. Kalmar was a workshop and makes container lifttrucks nowadays.

It used certain DAF components, a Cummins diesel engine and an Allison automatic gearbox. Behind the cab there was a kind of fork lift installation and it was a kind of forerunner to modern day RoRo tractors.

The door at the front was apparently to do with crowded (container( harboyur surroundings, where in front of the truck normally there was space, but at the side less so.

Yes, Kalmar is the company I was looking for.

On the rear side this truck had a fork lift. The double control board with turning seats was probably the reason for this Odd door arrangement.

Yeah, I added this later on in. According to a Swedish site it has to do with how this truck is being used (on sites with containers) so normally there is space in front of the truck (because it would drive forward) and maybe less so at the side (though there was an emergency door there).
