A different view of this Pontiac Special:

Is it mentioned as Pontiac-engined in the aforementioned book?

Paul Jaray

Nope.
The builder is mentioned there with a special with a different engine.
My source, a couple of magazines, shows 2 pics with detailed technical specs and there is reported that the car had different engines (Ford and Cadillac) but in this form is equipped with a Pontiac engine. The body was not by Devin or Meteor...but not an obscure name.

Otto Puzzell

Any connection with Frank Townsend?

Driven by Robert Sohus?

Noot by him.
The car is named after his (winning) driver.

The builder of the body is not American, sorry!

Engine apart, I don't know.

I forgot to tell you that is was street legal!

Paul Jaray

Sorry about that but if I tell you where the body comes from it'll be too easy.

Paul Jaray

Last clue.
This car had many different configurations.
One should be quite known and you can find 5 pages of results googling these names (body builder and driver) and the another was already featured here.
