Well, I'll have to strongly disagree. Although I know the answer you're looking for is Rolls-Royce Phantom Mutec Limousine, the Genaddi Black Tie Edition is equally satisfactory since the car is absolutely identical!

#91 - Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Limited 3.0 CRD This one is more of a sleeper, there's next to no visual cues. Didn't actually realise this until you brought it up though, so I'll leave it up to you whether I should keep this one up or replace it. Sorry!

Simply so, there's a dome on the roof of the Genaddi that is not present on the Mutec, that alone means they're not the same cars in my books.

Tuning used to be what people did to engines (and other mechanical parts) to improve performance and in the main they would be careful that there was no outward sign of their work (except sometimes for a discreet badge).
Based on the examples in this thread, dramatically changing the outward appearance is what tuners do now, so I ask you younger people to tell me if there is also any performance enhancement or is it all show and no action?
This is a Speedwell A35 and, apart from the racing numbers and stick-on front numberplate, would you know?



PS I think that Riley Pathfinder behind it is one I once owned!

Koenig for instance got their knowledge from racing and they applied that on their cars. I'm mentioning Koenig, because they also had VERY visual mods as well. Besides Koenig I think most of this list has been performance tuned, some of them to a very high specification. And not all tuners aimed for really powerfull cars (1000HP Ferrari's are extreme examples), some went for luxerious cars or save cars (armoured to the highest specification). And I'm not talking about the tacky american strechtes, but cars that were enlarged in length, width and height, MPW style. Some made convertibles or coupe's while the factory was not offering these models. Tuning is modifying, not only for racing.

Well, in my book, tuning is not preparing for racing or making bodystiles different  from the offered by the factory. Tuning is modifying (and usually with bad taste) road models, either mechanically and/or visually, to make them faster/uglier/both for road use. On the other hand, preparing for race is race-spec'ing and the latter is coachbuilding or conversion. I would never consider a 456GT Venice Station or a R8 LMS as tuning...

My first attempt at the above; a stock exterior '71 V.W. Bug with 1835cc.  It would smoke our 356SC Porsche.

At this stage I'm dumbfounded that #30 has not fallen yet... Such a well known tuner and yet it's still standing... The brand of the car is a massive giveaway and looking at some of the other tuners that have been guessed, this one should have been an absolute doozy.

#17 is a fairly outrageous tuner, not greatly known but nonetheless has 20 years of experience. Provides both full tunes and smaller kits from it's single American store.

Only #17 and #30 left, once those are gone I can hand out the 100 well deserved points!

#17  - I found this tuner originally in a 2000ish copy of DuPont Registry. Does this help? If not, ask questions that may help!
