From Chicago Tribune, 4/25/1969:
The Techna is all-new, except for a slightly-modified 428 cubic-inch v-8 engine and a blue nameplate grafted from a 1936 Ford truck.
The two-door Techna was first unveiled last June and it wasn't too many months before a couple of its features showed up on production cars. High-level brake lights and anti-skid control are now available on some Ford production models.
Some Techna Features
Here are some of the Techna features:
1. A drive line that is located off-center that creates a smaller floor tunnel thru the passenger compartment between the left and center occupants, giving more floor room for all six passengers.
2. A structural glass windshield that eliminates the need for front corner pillars.
3. An inspection hatch in the hood which gives easy access to the engine for routing maintenance checks.
4. Power-operated doors with parallel hinges. By opening straight out from the body rather than swinging, the two six-foot long doors give the same easy entry as with four doors, even when the car is parked within 18 inches of another vehicle.
5. The instrument panel consists of one small window in the dashboard that provides 16 messages, including warnings for low coolant level, transmission temperature, battery level, oil pressure, fuel load, etc. The speedometer operates by electronic sensors rather than a cable.
7. A front seat that remains in a fixed position while the steering column and foot pedals move backward and forward to suit different drivers.
