As I do only know one further picture that is the lo-res-version colour-version of this one I do not know more than what we all can see.

I think it shows a future vision of this company.

And future in those days often meant: flying.

So - yes I do think it was intended to be a flying car.

Bayer LEV 2000, sort of a Hoovercraft (hence the round aur intake on the bonnet) with fold-away wheels. It was planned to be guided by magnetic waves.
I found this picture in "l'Automobile" #233 (septembre 1965) in an article about the First International Transport and Traffic Exhibition in Munich, Germany.

Very good Dynamike.

This is what I wanted to hear!

The huge german chemical company Bayer has shown this "flying" car concept at the 1965 "Internationale Verkehrsausstellung" at Munich.

I think it was not much more than a mock-up.

Does anybody have more information about it?

Are you sure you mean 'hoovercraft' rather than 'hovercraft'?
Or is it really a giant fancy vacuum cleaner?!

The word "hovercraft" is mistakenly pronounced as ''hoovercraft" by 99,9% of the Dutch population ;). This is strange because it has quite a different effect than a vacuum cleaner...

It seems to have been a Ingenieur Schmidt´s brainchild and it had 4 auxiliary wheels...

LEV obviously stands for Leverkusen as it was made by Bayer AG which headquarter is located there. (not to be mistaken with Bayern in its capitol Munich it was presented in 1965)
