micro08 - solved: Export body used instead of Standard body!
« on: April 03, 2011, 11:28:16 AM »
Let's try this again.
I'm not looking for what this car is.
Not looking for the name of the car or any of the specs.
For ONE point I want to know What is Wrong With This Car.

To be more specific: This car was built up from an existing toy model.  The toy existed long before this full-size version.
HOWEVER - something was "lost in translation" when the full-size version was built.
What is it?

There's no "Bubble" back window...........ooooooooops wrong puzzle :-[

The rear wheel is too small...the original concept had a tall rim fitted with a nice wrinkly MT slick

nope, not the rear wheel, but that is an excellent point.

All my puzzles have something in common.  There is a reason I posted this one.
The area you should focus on is painted orange.

The car pictured features the BMW styled Isetta Moto Coupe DeLuxe bodyshell which is slightly bigger and features sliding windows and a sun roof.

The original model used the Italian Iso style shell with fixed windows and no sunroof.

The result is the scaled up version has less of a visual impact than had the builder used the same shell as the one used by Mattel....I would be handing over my pink slip at the traffic light drags irrespective of which bodyshell was used....its a monster!!

Ah HAH!  Very good and close enough for a Point for you!

I think my first Puzzle here was about the 2 different body styles that BMW used on their Isetta.
The early models used the "STANDARD" until mid 1957 when it changed to the "EXPORT" style.
The "Standard" had fixed triangular windows, while the "Export" version had Sliding Windows.
both had sunroofs though.

The original Hotwheels model called WHATTADRAG had used the "STANDARD" aka: "Bubble Window" style body of the Isetta.
The scaled up version of the model used the "EXPORT" aka "Sliding Window" style body of the Isetta instead.

I can post a bigger picture. It is the one in my collection.
