Intriguing.
At first glance I would say it's almost certainly a Frua-bodied Maserati, but I can't find it anywhere!
Is it a Frua proposal for an updated Sebring?

Yes  :)

Vignale?
Or much more obscure?!

It looks like the front of a Mexico mated to the rear of a later Sebring, with a middle that almost fits in..

It's a Maserati 3700 GTI Tipo 108 by Carrozzeria Touring.
Shown at the Barcelona Show in 1967.
A VERY desirable car IMHO, although the front is a little disappointing after that lovely rump!

A new one for me too! Does look very Frua-like. I think quad headlamps would've improved the front a great deal though...

Really beautiful car from some angles.
Those headlights just look wrong for a 1967 car however.
With a Mexico front it would get 10 out of 10 from me!

Touring also did an earlier 3500 GTI, which had a very similar glasshouse but a much more modern front than this later car, with low-set oblong headlights.

Below is an even earlier car which seems to have a very similar front to the puzzle car, although it is rather more protruding - both are much more like a late 50's/early 60's design:

I like it very much, though I believe it looks in silver a lot better than in red.

I prefer those subtle "not-so-perfect" designs. Those with 10 points out of 10 are frequently a little boring to me. Like I'm much more attracted by a girl with a slightly longer nose or a slightly skew tooth etc.. (not the best example I know ;D)

Each to their own!
I agree about the colour; these cars often look so much better in silver or a light metallic colour than the obligatory Italian Racing Red that today's restorers feel it necessary to paint all Italian sports cars in.
One of my absolute favourites for most beautiful car of all time (10 out of 10 in fact!) is the Ferrari 250 Lusso, but whilst it looks fabulous in silver, metallic blue, even maroon and brown I think it looks awful in red - yet that's the colour most coming out of restoration appear in..

"Well it's a Ferrari innit?  So it must be red"!  In fact 85% of all Ferraris sold in the UK (and probably elsewhere as well) are red (Rosso Chiaro AKA Retail Red!), and any car that is not red is worth perhaps 10% less on resale!

That's one of the least attractive Maseratis I've ever seen. Not only is the front end a flat-faced mess, but look at the varying width of the C-pillar - the whole greenhouse looks very amateurish, blocky, and cobbled together. Also, as typical of many Italian cars of the 1960s, the designers ran out of inspiration by the time they reached the rear end. The taillights look like they were grabbed from a Renault in the parking lot.

As I said before, each to their own!
Also as I said before though, the car did look like an amalgam of 3 different cars, with the middle almost fitting in..
Those rear lights are, of course, the same ones as fitted to the Quattroporte I and the Sebring II.  I'm not quite sure where they came from for Maserati to fit them though, as they never had their own moulded.  Maybe Renault!
