Or was it before they started calling them Nissans in all markets?
To be fair I only edited my original post to read 'Bluebird' after Aaron65's post, although it is what I meant to write in the first place and it only hit me I'd put the wrong thing whilst driving home!
I wasn't aware it was also called a Datsun 510, as it wasn't called that on the UK market.

As I understand it, the car was designed with the US market strongly in mind. Datsun, at that time, was eschewing names like "Bluebird" and "Fairlady" for cars sold in the US.
