Is it a custom-built car or a kitcar by any company?

I think it was planned to be produced in bigger numbers and the only example had been modified to look like you can see in the photos.

This may help:

"This snazzy pickup is the result of one manīs design for a sport truck on a VW pan, and it is the one and only body built from the plug.
By the time the design was finalized, īglass-bodiedīkit cars had faded from the market, so the creator abandoned production plans.
The one-off was sold to XXXXXXXX of XXXXX.
XXXXXXXX operates an independent VW service and race preparation shop in the gambling mecca, and in his spare time he finished the little car in the sport truck concept.
He had plans of running the truck in slaloms, and set up the chassis with handling and dig-out type performance in mind..........
The pickup bed is fairly well filled with the 1900cc roller bearing crank VW engine topped with adual throat Solex carburetor......
However like many others with a keen kit car design, he is waiting for the federal regulations regarding such vehicles to be set and be stable for at least a few yearsīduration.
In the meantime his "XXXXXXXXXXXXXX" the only name given the pickup, is a one of a kind, real sporty truck."

And do NOT count the Xs...

Congrats!

May I ask how youīve found it? Was it by google or did you find the book itself?

Very well done in any case!
