I think you missed (or ignored) my main point. If you're going to quiz people on the name/origin of a particular car, you should be well prepared to have all the answers (or at least a link to all the answers) ..available within the thread.

I really don't think that I'll be sharing any of the information that I've gathered. Not here at least.

Your entirely missing the point of this site. I clearly stated in the first post that I knew next to nothing about this car. Many puzzles start out this way, most get solved, some remain a mystery. Some turn out to be something else than the poster of the puzzle thought.

If you like puzzles that have only one indisputable answer, I suggest you buy a puzzle book with an answer section in the back.  :D

Sorry to be an intruder but I think there's a lot of sites that have all you're asking for. You don't even have a point won, so, or you're too frustated or just want to bother. No ofense.

There's really no need to be rude, by telling me to go buy a puzzle book. I was merely suggesting that you might take into consideration the fact that people want to be able to rely on the information that they gather from this site. It's really a small thing to ask to have the administration (or one of the thread participants) provide some sort of link to where a participant (or non-participant) might be able to find more information regarding a particular model.

Oguerrerob, the fact that I've gathered zero points in the two days that I've been a member of this site doesn't mean that I haven't spent countless hours doing my own research. The reason that I joined this site is due to the fact that this site often winds up being amongst the few solid search results that I get sometimes. It's not that I don't want to bother seeking information. It's my own self-inspired searches for information that often leads me to this site. So, unlike many of this site's members, I'm not actually using this site as the main source of inspiration for my searches.

By my having said all of that, I hope I've made it clear that I'm not too frustrated to seek information. What is a little frustrating is the fact that the thread participants (in the threads that I have seen so far) will do their own research on a particular model, yet nobody seems to bother to leave a reference link anywhere in the thread. The information super-highway kind of end right here.

As for the many sites that have all the info that I need, regarding the car that inspired this thread, I'll say that I'm a couple hours into my search and I have yet to find another site that has any information on this particular car. It may be due to the fact that there's insufficient information for me to work with, but I'm not going to give up on my search.

For your info Geronimo, if you read the rules you will find that ALL links to other websites are banned on this site.

I hope you persevere with us, as it is a brilliant site absolutely full of info not available elsewhere.

Ciao Geronimo, wellcome to Autopuzzles.

I think we all started with the wrong foot here.
You made a valid point, we have to provide valid information and nobody argue that.
We simply can't provide links here for obvious reasons: some of us do not have a library where take puzzles and if you spoil your source it will be hard to keep playing...and this leads to the main conclusion: this is a game where you can prove your knowledge and meet nice people.
Sometimes we have all the background of the car, sometimes we have few data...but sometimes we have near zero and we hope to find them out there.

I really don't think that I'll be sharing any of the information that I've gathered. Not here at least.

This line is openly against the spirit of this place but it's your choice and it will be respected.
I'm going to share an amount of info I gathered in the near future...hope you'll be around to take what you please!

Welcome to AutoPuzzles!

Actually, links are banned only in the puzzles sections. The reason is stated in the Rulebook post at the beginning of each puzzle category. Perhaps Geronimo should read them before telling us the site is run the wrong way. ;)

For the record, I never said that this site was 'run the wrong way'. I was merely making a suggestion. A suggestion that might have been avoided had I bothered to read the rules that have been set in place regarding the linking to outside sources in the puzzle areas of this site. Since I've clearly stated that I never had any intention of playing the autopuzzles game, it might be easier to understand why I never bothered to read the rules. I've since taken the time to read through the rules and I now have a better understanding.

Just out of curiosity, what gives autopuzzles the right to watermark images? And I don't mean to be/sound like a smarta$$ by asking that either. I may have come across that way in my earlier posts, but I can assure you that it was never my intention. I ask about the watermarking because I'm genuinely curious about how this site's administration goes about laying claim to a bunch of historical automotive images, without stepping on anyone's toes. Since I've made it clear that I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, I hope to not get smarta$$ comments in reference to my honest query. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Geronimo, it seems there's a lack of comunication between us...
I'll be glad to answer to your question but I'd like you to answer one:
what is your interest in this place? You already wrote that you won't play Autopuzzles, you won't share your knowledge with us, you have a different point of view regarding some issues we already discussed in places you seem not interested to read...now you are concerned about watermaks!
Autopuzzles is not claiming any copyright on the pictures as stated at the bottom of each page:

"Copyright 2011 AutoPuzzles.com. Permission to reprint in whole
or in part is gladly granted, provided full credit is given."

There's no copyright on the images because they come from: internet, books, magazines or private archives.
When someone feels the urge to claim a copyright on one of his picture we deal with him like we are used to do, like a bunch of good people!

Since you are interested, I'll tell you the origin of watermarks: we found many places like Autopuzzles, where pictures show up right after being featured here and there was not a single line crediting this place. That's all.

Your suggestions are welcome but it will be nice to know also your intentions...are you trying to help developing a better place to join?

As a postscript, I thought I'd add a little more information on the BMW 700 Sport Prototype of 1961 showing the road-equipped car with full-height windscreen, original wheels, etc.

The car is called BMW 850 RS because of its bored out engine as you can see from the attached photo.

As guido66 hasn't been active here for almost two years, I took the freedom to alter the title according to the identification given in the last post (850 RS instead of 700 RS).
