It has a BMW badge on the bonnet, yes! But that's all I know about this car...

It looks like a Martini BMW 700 barchetta, but I'm struggling to find photograph proof of this for you at the moment!

Isn't this Brazilian?. I see a resemblance with Tony Bianco's FNM Fúria sportcars who where sometimes also BMW powered?

I believe this is a BMW 700 RS of c.1961.

Two views below show the car at Essen 2009 and one with Alex von Falkenhausen racing in 1963.

The puzzle car appears to have been modified for road use with a full windsceen and modified headlights (probably because the original headlights may not have passed the street use regulations).

I'm unsure how many BMW 700 RS were produced and I can't find any Martini connection.

I think the whole body was altered except for the bonnet, perhaps a fiberglass body?

The picture shows the BMW 700 RS in question during a BMW Isetta club tour in 2009.
It is said to have an enlarged engine of 850 cc and still 70 hp.

So Djetset was really the first to identify it, but Wendax came up with some sort of proof, perhaps led in the right direction by Woodinsight. Now, how to divide the points ??? ::)

It is okay with me, if woodinsight gets the point. I wouldn't have searched for the car, if he had not answered before. What I find more interesting is whether you have any more information about the car, its builder etc. Since the car is located in Bavaria, it is very unprobable that it will ever be seen in Northern Germany.  ;)

Since we can't give half points I usually give them one each!

A point was awarded to Djetset and one to Woodinsight. ;)

Sadly, I have absolutely no additional information on this car.

I hate to revive old threads, especially since this is my first post here. And I certainly don't want to start any trouble. I'm sure that the moderators are honest folks, but other than their seal of approval shouldn't there be some kind of confirmation (by the end of each thread) that the car in question is/was actually called a "GG-122 eigenbau (homemade) BMW 700 RS"? (or any other model name) ..At the very least, a link to the same car with info from another site, or better yet a scan from a book would kind of bring some kind of closure (to me at least) ..I just think that with the limited amount of information on many of the cars that are featured here on the autopuzzles site, that folks like me who are looking for answers want to be absolutely positive that the source of the information they're receiving is 100 percent correct.

After having read this thread, I see that Djetset was the first person to correctly identify the car in question by giving the answer of.. "It looks like a Martini BMW 700 Barchetta," ..yet the title of this thread is "GG-122 eigenbau BMW 700 RS" ...You see what I mean? I don't know whether or not it's called a Martini BMW 700 Barchetta or if it's a GG-122 eigenbau BMW 700 RS. I'd like to be able to walk away from a thread like this with definitive answers instead of a few more model names to put into yet another google search.

I've been doing a lot of research of the Martini BMWs, and time and time again, this website has come up in my search results. It's safe to say that many of the images of the Martini BMWs that I've seen on this site have different names than the very same images that I've found on other sites. I understand that (I forget the moderator's name) has a copy of the Wolfgang Thierack book about Willi Martini, so I'm more apt to trust the answers that I've got on this site more than I do on some of the other sites. Be that as it may, I still feel that the threads on this site need to include some kind of definitive source for the information you are 'giving out' to God knows how many people.

Anyway, sorry to sound like such a sour puss, but I think I make a valid point or two.

GG-122 is simply the name of the puzzle. Eigenbau is German for home-built. If you have any additional information about this car, please post it here.  ;)
