Fun #42 - Burt Ward and the Batmobile
« on: September 25, 2011, 03:29:47 AM »
When he gets bigger, he'll be riding in style.

For 1 point, identify this lad, and the car with which he would later be famously connected.

Be sure to answer all parts of the question, if you'd like the point.

Only complete answers will earn a point

I believe this one is impervious to Google's image matching, but if you take that easy way to the answer, please be honest and tell us so.

Not him. This youngster had already achieved a kind of fame before he was old enough for kindergarten. But he's be paired with the car that's the co-subject of this puzzle when an adult.

Our puzzle subject isn't connected with a competition car.

All right. But I don't understand how I could reply in the Expert Board.
There is a beginning of an explanation here http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=1682.0

Still, between pros and feature writers, all this is not very clear, especially since I don't really understand what I am: a pro? A feature writer? Both?

I'll save my next guess until this one is upgraded for the pros I suppose.

I hadn't noticed your gaffe. The vagaries of the mechanics of this board allow pros to post as rookies and experts, but don't allow experts to post as rookies. Unless they are feature writers.  :P

Frankie Darro?  "Born into a show-business family - his parents were circus aerialists - Frankie Darro appeared in his first film at age six."

If it's him, the car would be (let me just find an images) Robbie the Robot's in Forbidden planet, since he "played" Robbie.

hmmm...

I guess I better move this to the Pro section.

Not Master Darro. This lad's work started at an earlier age.

That's what I guessed from your line about kindergarten.
So, a baby actor?
Baby Leroy for instance?

Not a baby actor. But his early work was usually done for the entertainment of paying customers.

I own copies of two of Robbie's movies early - Forbidden Planet and The Invisible Boy. The former is one of my top-10 favorite films, my my all-time favorite screen adaptation of a Shakespeare story. I also have a couple of movie posters from the film, and a miniature Robby toy.

:) I think that I have made a very serious fan of  Shakespeare come out of the woods. I had no idea of the shakesperean relationship of Forbidden Planet, but I quickly thought of The Tempest when I read you.
Very interesting. I have to discuss this with my wife, the most dedicated Shakespeare lover in the house.

That you had a thing with this film and Robbie I maybe guessed before.
