That makes it a British car from 1904 with a two cylinder engine built by the company itself.

Although the one still existing looks different: is it a Celer?

That's why I couldn't find it...I had it under Chambers (1904-1927) as reported in Georgano's Encyclopedias (both the Beaulieu and the New Encyclopedia), and a couple of other books!

Another cool puzzle!  :thumbsup:

No, I think Downshire is the correct name for this one. It was changed to Chambers in 1905 as I found out.

According to my source Robert Chambers was first producing other technical products before he and his brother James (Jack) presented their first automobile with a 7 HP 2 cyl. boxer engine in 1904. James was at Vauxhall before and had been involved in building their first motor car. As mentioned by Wendax they changed the name to Chambers in 1905.
Downshire was an industrial destrict of Belfast.

Belfast sits in 2 of the 6 Northern Irish counties, Co. Antrim and Co. Down.
Downshire is an Anglicisation of 'County Down', but is used also in Northern Ireland; there are plenty of streets named 'Downshire' something or other and companies use it, e.g. Downshire Timber Co.
I know Co Down extremely well as my wife comes from there, and I have been there 3 times in the last 6 weeks...  It's actualy very beautiful.
