All right, I am going to watch Pulp Fiction one more time. I read that Tarantino put it in the soundtrack.
Otherwise, maybe she wasn't enough rock'n'roll for me. I' ve never been that much into soul.

It's great Ray, that however old we are (and I'm a Forty-Niner) there's still plenty new to learn and still loads of good music we've never heard before!

Trouble is, at my age, it seems that as you learn something new it has to displace the information that was in the cell before...!

I never heard her

You have been living on Earth all your life?!

Maybe not, but that girl also seemed to have spent some time in a Star Trek episode, where aliens grow strange stuff on their heads.

 ;D

And that's exactly why the puzzle picture was so hard to identify - the big bouffant hairdos were such a trademark.

Personally I think she looked soooo much better in the original puzzle picture, which I never recognised, even though I remember her singing in The Springfields folk group (Silver Thread and Golden Needles was their biggie wasn't it?)!

I never liked that stupid beehive she kept on top of her head...

I'm not a fan of those awful beehive hairstyles but Dusty Springfield's was better than those of Mari Wilson and Amy Winehouse.
It could be quite stylish I guess if the picture of Audrey Hepburn is anything to go by.

Coincidentally Dusty was in the news yesterday when former Bee Gee Robin Gibb unveiled a plaque in her memory at her former home in London.

He described her as "probably the greatest female popular singer in the modern pop era", adding that since 1963 there had been no-one to match her either from the UK or the USA.  He got into trouble for saying all modern female pop stars "pose as singers"!  He also said he didn't think there would ever be anyone who could take the place of Dusty Springfield (whose real name was actually Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien - no prizes for guessing her religion!)

Apparently one of her achievements was to persuade her record label to sign an unknown band called Led Zeppelin...

So maybe she was enough rock'n'roll (Robin Gibb notwithstanding) for me after all...

Her better-known work included covers of girl-group songs (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow), as well as some originals that emulated that sound (I Only Want to be With You, for example), and later, a move to soul-tinged but meticulously produced pop music (Son of a Preacher Man, for instance).

You may also recognize her rendition of Bacharach's The Look of Love from the David Niven Casino Royal movie of the 1960's.

When he'll get tired of automobiles, Otto Puzzell will turn towards a career of music historian.

I always supposed that Dusty Springfield was a man, and didn't check for a photo.

You are joking of course Ray?  With a voice like that?!
When you see the names written but have no idea who the people are/what they do it is all too easy.
There was someone acting in films called Dustin Hoffman (which is a first name I have never seen anywhere else) and as the only photo I knowingly saw was of a woman, it was quite a surprise to find it was a man's name and the photo had been of him in a "drag" role.

When it comes to play the role of the yeti, Allan is the best performer.

Not sure about that, but at least I had dinner at the Yak & Yeti restaurant in Kathmandu once . . . .  :crap:
