#22 by Arunas Solved: Shrike MkII, INFORMATION STILL NEEDED
« on: September 13, 2008, 02:58:22 PM »
2 points for this puzzle!
1 point for telling what it exactly is.
1 point for an accurate additional information that I could freely use. In fact I have one source that provides little info about it, but I don't know how accurate it is.

Good luck!

I had a picture of this one on my harddisk a long time ago, but it's been deleted, and so has the webpage it was on. It was American, and its name was Shrike Mk2 - but other than that, I'm afraid I have no information.

Here is another, slightly larger, pic of the Shrike. I believe it may actually have been British, not American, but it was certainly a defunct brand by 2006.

I've been searching all over for some more information on this, too, because I thought it would have been made a great puzzle. But it seems it's not as obscure as I think - both Arunas and Quiller knew about it ;) - goes to show that the people on this site really are the World's Best at identifying mystery cars!

Those info are from 2005.

Shrike Cars, 6, Old Field Weston, CT 06883, USA
Tel +1203/4540800, http://www.shrikecars.com

Shrike has built a sports car with a kevlar body and centrally located Twin-turbo 3.5-liter hp engine (top speed of 255km/h, 0-100km/h in 3.9s) engine since 1999. The new MK II model is in preparation and scheduled for production in China as of 2006. Price: USD 125,000.

There is the same pic of this yellow car but there is written MK I below.

Thanks! I perfectly know the source the text was taken from and because of I couldn't find anything more I think it is one of pseudo-cars, that may not have been built and the pictures possibly are just 3D CAD's.... But I have no idea where the second picture in this topic comes from.. Maybe You know?

P.S. The official links seems to be not working for a very long time  ;D

I'd think scale model or mock-up rather than rendering.

The pictures looks pretty familiar.. Probably I saw them some time ago, but really can't tell what it is... The shape also is very similar.. But Paul Jaray, could You tell me in general: Was Shrike a fake car or was it real (at least one has been ever made ???)...

I'm sure you saw this car...it cames from a very big car-maker still in business (indeed!)...about the Shrike I'm afraid I can't give you more info from here, I'll have a couple of books to look into at home, but I can only imagine that the 2nd picture is at least a full scale model and not a 3D cad design, becuse of the details and the reflections on the windows...about my 3 pics, I think it's just a rendering, but wich one? ::)

The 2nd picture of white car should be a rendering.. But what is that "big company" - author of these designs ???

The 2nd yellow car, the one Quiller posted, should be real or a scale model. About my pics...they are from a big company, still in business today, and this proposal has something in common with the Shrike....if nobody guesses, I can consider to post it like a new puzzle!
