1937 Cord Special Sport Custom built by Clarence Schaaf of Erlton, New Jersey. The car was built on a 1937 Cord chassis with front wheel drive. Clarence built his own body from sheet metal, 1950 Studebaker front fenders and 1950 Buick rear fenders. A red and black custom interior featuring foam rubber padding was made for the car. A modified Lycoming V8 engine of about 200 hp gave the unique custom a 135 mph speed. A $3,700 investment and 14 months spare time went in to the car. In 1955 Clarence's Cord Special was exhibited at the fifth annual Hartford Autorama in Hartford, Connecticut. At that time the car was valued at $7,000.
