Right, and right. To the relief of the other Rookies here, those two answers boost you to the expert level. If/when this one makes it to the expert ranks, you can take a whack at the remaining vehicles.

I ran across this thread today and noticed Seth 'No Nitro' Hammond's number 77 Lakester.  That car pencil rolled many times in 2003...well, it was just one crash, but it sure went over and over a whole lot.  I don't have photos of the crash nor the wrecked vehicle (the sanctioning bodies are very strict about that) but I have some photos of the aftermath (emergency vehicles, tv reporter, SCTA official, etc) and then the Modified Roadster he ran in 2004 and finally many photos of the NEW number 77 lakester that's just faster than greased lightning.

If desired, I can post them as an addendum here, or in the Racing section where I can include links to all the photos on my website.

If yer interested, lemme know and I'll do what I can.

Ok.  I'm attaching one photo from 2003 and then I'll start a thread in Racing called, "Seth Hammond - Salt Flats Lakester" since I've just picked out almost 30 shot of his cars and a couple others.

The shot here is the only one I got in 03 before he rolled it.  There's another on of it at speed, but it's not mine...I have permission to use it, tho.

Seth is known a "No Nitro" Hammond for reasons that I've never been able to really dig out, although when he runs in the Fuel classes, he runs straight alcohol.  Most other racers will run at least 20 percent nitro to just to make up for the thin air.  The salt flats are at 4300 feet above sea level.  (1300 meters, approximately.)  The extra oxygen contained in nitromethane allows it and the other hydrocarbons to burn with much less atmospheric oxygen.  For some reason, Seth prefers not to use it...a wild guess, but probably because it can be hard on motors and he may be using NOS instead, although I've never seen a green bottle in the car...but I've never inspected it inch by inch, either.

I'll explain more about lakesters and other classes in the post in the Racing section.
