This one was probably too old for our rookies. How about our experts?

Looks like a Peugeot of about 1899
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Year is spot on, but it's not a Peugeot.

There was a car, called Cyrano, made in Bergerac (!) that looks quite similar that was made under Lacoste patent...is it a Cyrano or a Lacoste-Battmann?

First clue (and probably the last one as it is so helpful): there's a connection to a very famous train

If I get you right, it should be Orient Express by Bergmann Industriewerken then. At least I have found such a car among London-Brighton participants, although it was dated 1898 and looked different, but who said it was the only one Orient Express made? :D

EDIT: Now I've found one more shot. Was the model called Duchesse?

This is indeed an Orient Express from 1899 made by Bergmanns Industriewerke in Germany

The "1898" OE that appeared on the Brighton run was never Dated by the VCC so the date ascribed by its owner is not to be relied on. Nor is its appearance!

Thanks. Well, at least it looked different than a car on this advertisement or the one pictured at wikipedia (which is very similar to this one)...

Bergmann I believe is - in this case - not part of the name of the car (see the advert as well)

I've just run across a source that states while the car was marketed in the UK, it was built by Bergmann Industriewerken (or Industriewerke...I don't know which is correct) in Gaggenau.
