Can you identify this? Country, year and name of builder will result in one more point for you! (with apologies about the quality of the pic)
-
Experts, have you seen this one before?
-
Professionals, you receive a clue: two major carmakers are related to this car
-
Fiat is one of them?
-
No
-
Australian?
-
Absolutely not. And before you misinterpret my clue, "related" doesn't mean involved...
-
It looks like a home-made car as the side intakes are treated not too accurately.
-
I am almost sure Bertone has nothing to do with it, but I had to ask, hadn't I? :D
-
It is home-made, but there were plans for production. And no, Bertone got nothing to do with it
-
From Europe?
-
Yes, created in Europe
-
France?
-
Nope
-
I did a little research to see whether I can find any information on this car on-line. You'll have your work cut out. It is mentioned by the guy in an interview, but there are no photos.
I'll give clues a bit later :)
-
Is SAAB one of the cars involved?
-
No, not at all
-
NSU?
-
No, not that
-
From Switzerland, again?
-
No, this time it is not from CH, but fairly close...
-
Austria?
-
In-between the two
-
Liechtenstein!
Jehle related?
-
Hmm, you seem to miss a rather large German-speaking country :)
-
geographypuzzles.com! Between Austria and Switzerland there's clearly only one country named Liechtenstein.
Probably you mean Germany though one can't be sure to 100% ;D
-
Yes, this was built in Germany. And to make it easier, you can name 2 or maybe even 3 German companies which had some relations to this car
-
Glas?
-
But Glas wasn't one of them
-
Wild guess: BMW?
-
There's no relation a BMW either.
-

VW, Opel, Ford? (still avoid to relate MB to this car!)
-
Volkswagen and Ford which I was after.
Clue time: donor was a Volkswagen.
-
Belgium?
-
No, this car was built in Germany, by a man who's somehow related to Ford (Clue No2 :)) using a VW as a donor. When I researched the car on-line to see what's available, it turned out that this ex-Ford guy went on to become someone who had a relation to another German car maker. In an interview, which is available on-line he mentions this very car as a catalyst which was so well received that it changed his career.
-
Related to Ford as an engineer or rather a business man?
-
he worked for Ford but not as an engineer
-
And the 3rd company is Porsche. This guy was an ex-Ford employee, who built this car on the basis of a Volkswagen. It attracted enough attention which prompted him to set up his company which worked on Porsche cars. A lot of clues :)
-
Alois Ruf?
-
No
-
Vittorio Strosek?
-
Not him
-
I can think of three important german Porsche companies: Ruf, Strosek and Gemballa. And Uwe Gemballa seems to be too young for this car - it looks like it was made in late 60s or very early 70s.
Or maybe he's not a tuner but for example prepares Porsches for competition?
-
You're right. There's another long-running and famous German company which tunes and races Porsche cars :)
-
Maybe one of the Kremer brothers? I am running out of options... :P
-
Techart?
-
None of the above
-
DP Motorsport?
-
Okay, you found the company. Now, all I need is the name of the guy who built the car and the name of the car :)!
And I am feeling generous, so locked 'til your next reply

What a lucky guess! The problem is that I don't have so much time for searching. Maybe within next 48 hours.
-
Okay, you get it for 36 hours :)
-
Update: Is it Ekkehard Zimmermann's Study II?
-
You see, it wasn't that difficult. Congratulations, you earned a well deserved point!
Back in 1971 Ekkehard Zimmermann created this "Studie 2" prototype with a 2000 cc VW engine and plastic body. A small-series run was planned, priced between DM18000 and DM 20000 but it did not happen.
However in a later interview he said that he received so many compliments that he set up DP - Design and Plastic.

another view:
It seems it has remarkable resemblance to this one:

I was always under the mpression that dp Motorsport simply makes bodykits for Porsches and has nothing to do with "real" tuning, let alone racing competition. Then again, German cars have never been my strong point ;)
-
A better version of the puzzle picture:
-
is this same to "Autobianchi A112 Otas"?
-
is this same to "Autobianchi A112 Otas"?
It looks similar but it's not the same car:
