Solved: NTM #48 - Namesakes 2

Sometimes more than one make uses the same name... and often the most famous make with a given name isn't the first.

Here are some cars whose names you know... these just aren't the cars you normally associate with the names.

For one point each, name each make and give enough information to distinguish it from other makes of the same name.

Hint #1: There is not much variety among the more famous makes that use the names.
Hint #2: Sometimes more than two makes have the same name.

Thanks, and that's one down. Not sure how that one qualifies as "the easy one" any more than the others, but oh well.

I assume you mean "like that." Anyway, yes -- all the names (as associated with other cars besides these, of course) are extremely well-known, with one that maybe slightly fewer people would know than "Mercury."

NS5 is an American Mercury touring from 1920.
NS7 is the British Mercury small car from 1920

The years may be a little off, but you've got the correct makes. 2 more to go! (As I said, not much variety among the more famous makes involved.)

And finally, all the sixes.

Car No 6 is a 1920 Lincoln Six tourer, also apparently called the Lincoln Pioneer Six, made by the Lincoln Motor Car Company of Sydney, Australia, and powered by a Continental six-cylinder engine.

This manufacturer was active from 1919 to 1924. According to Georgano: "The Lincoln Motor Co. of Detroit, Mich. requested the company to drop the Lincoln name in 1923, but it is not recorded that the Australians did so". :)
