Well it appears to be a French registered Jowett Jupiter coupe but as to who built the body I don't know.

You're right so far but I don't know who built the body, only where - which you haven't answered yet!
Where was it built, for that point?  I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to find that out (and risk barrett's wrath...)

There's an extra point available for anyone can actually identify the car's builder and prove it.

I left the 'F' on the back because I thought it might be a bit of a red herring - but there's no fooling you woodinsight!

I believe the coachwork came from Germany.
It is also similar to the Rometsch bodied Goliath in some respects - see attached

Yes please do.  Woodinsight has given up for the time being but I'm sure he still deserves a point for identifying the make and model; it's nearly Christmas after all!

Any info you can add will be much appreciated barrett and might even warrant another point!

Well all I know is the coachbuilder is French, from the Valence region.
So far nothing else is known about the car - what chassis number it is, if it survives or who built it. Ed Nankervell, who has spent nearly 40 years researching the history of the special-bodied Jupiters, has drawn a total blank, but it'd be nice to think someone here might be able to come up with a lead!

Thanks.  That's pretty much all I know too so in time I'll award 1 point to woodinsight for identifying the make and model and 1 point to barrett for saying where it was built.

I'm moving the puzzle to the Professionals just in case anyone has some ideas about who the builder was, but if nothing more is forthcoming in a little while I'll say it's solved as far as it can be and move it to the Solved board.

I have a large amount of French material in my library and if the car still exists you can be sure it will have been mentioned.
As usual I will keep my eyes open and post any findings here.

The only coachbuilder that I know from Valence is Guy Mismaque and Bernard Gouiran who were active in the late 1950s when they built a coupe with Citroen 2CV mechanicals. This may have been the Atla prototype.
Guy Mismaque also built 3 coupes with Citroen and Simca engines in the 1960s.

This however is inconclusive as far as the Jupiter is concerned.
