It sure looks like one.
However, I posted it as something else so I need to find out if it's a real one, a copy, or if I have been conned by some misinformation!
I'll have to look into it, which may take a couple of days.

Embarrassingly I think I've been conned into believing this was something else; I would never have posted such a well-known car is it is too easy!

So the best and only fair thing I can do is give you your point and bury it in the Solved section and pretend this never happened!

Many of us easily forget the specialist hill-climb cars such as the C/D - and with this photo there is little sense of scale and I was wondering about the 1½ litre A-U . . .
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

The is the original picture before I trimmed it.  You mean you think it might be a scaled-down version of the V-16 C/D?

The hill-climb special was a D type car with a C type (16 cylinder) engine IIRC, hence C/D in the designation.
What I had half thought of was the 1½ litre car that Donington exhibited as an A-U now called Auto Union Sokol Typ 650.

AFAIK 1,5-litre formula Auto Union (alleged Type E) was never build, however the project with ~330hp V12 was ready. After war many Auto Union racing cars were taken to Soviet Union to be researched etc, where the Typ 650 "Sokol" was re/build by Soviet Awtowelo. Project was dropped after Stalin's death in 1953.

Not exactly - the Sokol was rather East German, but built on Soviet money. And the project was abandoned before Stalin's death AFAIK - after the fiasco at the first race - Moscow championship, when both cars broke down.

It's not Sokol 650 anyway. I guess it may be the car which was exhibited at Rigas Motormuzejs for a long time, now replaced with a replica AFAIK.

Believe it might be on display in Finland but the site wasn't clear about that.

I saw this car in the museum in Riga in 2008. I checked my photo of it before i answered this puzzle. I did not know that the exhibited car was a replica. Still an awesome car!
