1952 Packard Macauley

It's a '52 Packard all right, but it was never actually called 'Macauley' (despite it being called that on some websites...)
It was of course one of Ed Macauley's series of concepts but they all had names of their own.
I'm looking for either of the 2 names it was known by, one it was called to start with then a different name that it was changed to very slightly later!
So it's locked for you for 48 hours to reply to, as you have found the car and it's just a simple matter to give me one (or both!) of the other names.

Yes.
It was apparently originally the Packard Special Speedster but they very quickly had a re-think and changed it to Panther, which they must have thought sounded much better!

The McCauley / Panther was a '53, not a 52. It's usually mistaken for a '52, because it uses the hood for a '52 model. In fact, it featured a lot of cobbled-together parts from a few different Packard model years. The rear bumper is from a '53, and the roof looks to be a re-worked '53 piece, as well. Oddly, when introduced, the car also sported '51 wheel covers.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!
