I give you two hints: my source reports a racing class 8-9. Does this ring any bell?

I believe its engine is smaller than 1,5 litre, but this could as well be wrong!

I was almost certain about your source, but that is so big that I couldn't find it there. Even the hint with the groups made me almost stuck, because I can't recall Gr.8-9 in circuit racing, but I forgot about hillclimbing!

I don't have a year for it, only the name of the owner/builder(?), the capacity of the engine, engine's donor and the make of the car.

What about Lagonda then? The engine seems quite big, I'd even say possibly about 4.3-4.5.

No it's not a Lagonda and the engine is less than half the size as you're assuming
I suppose this particular car wasn't for racing. Probably it had been his daily driver.
He was a racing driver and had quite a funny nickname considering his appearance..

#24 is a Healey with a 2 litre Riley engine dating from around 1949/1950.
The owner was Ronald "Curly" Dryden, landlord of The George pub in Dorchester-on Thames, Oxfordshire.
He was a well known racing driver in the immediate post-war period, racing his Formula 3 Cooper against the likes of a young Stirling Moss.
Curly Dryden sadly lost his life in an accident at Castle Combe in October 1951.
