No, I just was wondering, but actually I should comment when it comes to the Pros! So, never mind...

So you think this one will reach the Pro's?  Not many of mine do!

It was a Bertone project, designed for Mazda (Toyo Kogyo) in 1967, inspired by the "Executive" Fiat 125 showcar.

As said, it's not Japanese.
It IS Bertone, though.

Bertone model that was first rejected by Fiat and then revised and rejected by Mazda. I think this is the 2nd version, and I think that it's built with Fiat parts.

That's not at all what I have it as.

Could it be a Bertone designed replacement for the Alfa Giulia (Berlina) which was rejected and later taken up by Mazda?

Yes, well done.  That's exactly what it is.
Here are some other pics to back up the fact that it was originally an Alfa; don't think they're of the same car but are of variations of the theme, all done at the same time.

Cmetisse is right on this one, this is the 1967 Bertone Toyo Kogyo.  It has nothing to do with Alfa Romeo.

However, the 3 pics present in post # 16 are indeed Bertone proposals for an Alfa Romeo.
The upper 2 pics started as a project on Fiat 125 running gear.
The 3rd pic is a Bertone (rejected) proposal for the upcoming Alfetta.

This was indeed what I found in my books about Bertone...

Further investigation finds that you are correct after all so I've given you your point!
I had 4 pics to choose from thinking they were all Alfas and used the one I thought gave fewest clues - only it turned out to be a Mazda, not an Alfa like the other three...  No wonder it looked so Japanese...

My apologies!

So, what's nthe story with Alfa? I know that it's a Mazda proposal but the topic states that the car was adapted to an Alfa Romeo proposal, yet 75america and cmetisse say otherwise. Which is correct?
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

After the design was reject by Mazda it was re-worked (but only slightly) and proposed to Alfa, as per the other pictures,
Alfa didn't accept the design either..
